call me Princess
Ha– betcha were expecting a picture of one of the kids, right?
Nope. Me. I’m the princess. DIVA behaviour right.here.
My princess moment: I miss my little house with the central air. Oh, central air. Our new house does not have it. We have window units. Sure, they’re fine. But they’re noisy. And the schlepping and installing and uninstalling and yada yada yada. And they don’t cool the house properly — hot pockets of air sneak down and wham! And I can’t install one in the bathroom. Do you know how gross it is to step out of a shower and be instantly hot and sweaty again? Gross. Also most of the 3rd floor bedrooms have casement windows — not double hung — and while I suppose there is a way to install a window unit in a casement… what.a.pain.
But mostly, it’s the noise I hate. I can’t hear what’s going on in the rest of the house — and maybe it’s because this house is new-to-me and I don’t know all of it’s creaks and groans, but the not hearing is bothersome.
So, if the above deems me a Princess then fine.
Call me a princess / I don’t care / Please just give me / My central air.

I hear you Katia! We’ve been living with window units for 11 years in a 3 story twin. Here are the positives you can focus on: white noise in the kids’ rooms means less waking up from street noise or from each other, when you take out the a/c window units in the fall, you relish the extra light coming in, less dust circulating through the house. By the way, I feel the same way about the shower so I made Scott put a window unit in the bathroom. Why not? Also, our casement window rooms – - portable a/c unit is the answer. Good luck with the new house! You can always add central air for what? $30,000?
funny! But, then I always knew that there was a ‘princess’ in you, ha!
